Happy New Year: Prescott’s Boot Drop!

Well, it’s ALMOST that time of year… THE LAST DAY OF THE YEAR! This is a time we will all say goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020 (Wow, does saying 2020 make anyone else feel old?)!

This is a time we will reflect on all that has happened in the last year, which can bring both sadness when thinking about what has passed, but also joy in thinking about what is to come.

If you know us, you know the Kathleen Yamauchi Group is a tight nit group of agents. We are co-workers, friends, and family. We are a team who look out for one another, help one another, and collectively do the same for each and every client that walks through our door.

In 2020, we will strive to serve the Prescott community, and those moving to Prescott, with the same fervor and professionalism we always have. We will continue to remember and implement what Kathleen said: “It has never been our intention to be the biggest. Only the best!” We will continually strive to grow, adapt, and learn so that we can be the best agents this town has ever seen – the agents our clients deserve.

We thank you so much for your business and partnership with us in the past, and we hope that we get to work with you again in 2020 and in the years to come! From all of us at the Kathleen Yamauchi Group, we wish you and yours a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

That being said, if you’re looking for something to do tonight to ring in the new year, check out Prescott’s very last town event in the Downtown Square: The Boot Drop.

The Boot sits atop whiskey row and is lit up in neon fluorescent lights. People from all over come to watch as the boot drops, once at 10PM for those of us looking to go to bed a little earlier or whom have children, and again at the traditional time of 12PM.

Come and have some good food and drinks at one of the many restaurants around downtown as you ring in the new year, kissing your loved one at midnight and giving cheers with all your friends.

Make sure to bundle up as you know the temperatures tend to drop low at night.

As always, be careful driving around with all the people out and about to celebrate the new year. Use taxi services and apps such as Uber or Lift if needed.

We hope you have fun, have safe travels, and again, have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Agent Feature – Jodi Petkovich

We’d like to introduce you to our amazing agent Jodi Petkovich. Jodi and her husband John have lived in Prescott for ten years now with their three kids, and they have loved every moment.

As a former teacher, Jodi brings ‘class’ to her duties as an agent as well as a fabulous sense of humor, constantly making those around her laugh. Her kindness, generosity and professionalism are what you’ll love most about her and are what make her unforgettable. She studies the needs of her clients to help them achieve their transactional goals, always seeking her client’s best interest at heart. Her extracurricular activities include making melodies and spending time with her husband and three children and serving in intercessory ministry.

Her husband John owns his own successful plumbing business called Bar None Plumbing. They do everything from basic plumbing issues to water heaters, to flood prevention services, and seek to bring the highest quality service to their customers.

John and Jodi’s three children are Ronnie, Taylor, and Riley. Ronnie is recently married and a worship pastor at a local Church in town. Taylor is currently making his nation and family proud; serving in our country’s military, though he is missed every day by his family. Lastly, Riley is a freshman at Prescott High School and she loves soccer, playing on her schools high school team as well as on a club team.

We love Jodi and we know you will too! Here are some things that Jodi’s clients have had to say about her:

“Jodi Petkovich was a great help and went out of her way to be accommodating for us to get through our purchase. She was super quick to respond every time I contacted her.”

“We worked exclusively with Jodi Petkovich and we couldn’t be more pleased with our experience. During the entire process Jodi was, to put it into simple terms, a wonderful gift. We were looking at Prescott very seriously and clicked on a property for more information and within minutes we got a call from Jodi. Over the course of many months she went above and beyond to help us find the right property and was at our side every step of the way through a challenging buying process. You can’t find a harder working, dedicated, responsive and knowledgeable professional than Jodi. I’ve dealt with many real estate agents in the past (one was a high school friend) and while all were very good at their job, I’d put Jodi on the top of the list when it comes to my experience. My wife and I highly recommend her services and the team at the Kathleen Yamauchi Group.”

“Where to start? Jodi was amazing her professionalism and knowledge was top notch. She listened to what we wanted and found the right home for us in record time. The loan officer we had even said the closing went so well because of Jodi and her quick response and attention to detail. I highly recommend her.”

Jodi is amazing!

Agent Feature – Julie Marquardt

Pictured above from left to right: sons Clay and Chad, husband Brian, and son Seth.

Married to a career military officer, Julie has spent much of her life traveling the globe with her husband, living in places such as Germany, California, Washington DC, and many more.

Julie and her husband Brian have raised three amazing boys – Clay, Seth, and Chad. Their eldest, Clay, lives in Washington DC and was recently married this past year in 2018. Seth is currently living in Texas and has followed in his mother’s footsteps, succeeding in his own real estate career. Their youngest, Chad, recently graduated from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix with a major in Natural Resources Tourism and a minor in Business Administration.

Julie started her career in real estate while her husband was stationed in Virginia before his retirement from the military in 2014. They moved to Prescott in 2015 where she obtained her Arizona real estate license, quickly becoming one of the most knowledgeable and beloved agents.

Julie is detail oriented and provides unparalleled service to her clients. She has her ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative) and is currently pursuing her GRI (Graduate of Realtor Institute). A representative of both buyers and sellers, she truly does it all! She is always looking to serve her clients with the utmost customer care and respect, her kindness and experience making her stand out among the rest.

Here are what some of Julie’s clients have to say about her:

“We worked with Julie Marquardt for over a year in search of our new home. House hunting with Julie was a true pleasure. She is a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and energetic, as well as patient, honest and respectful. She is intuitive and not afraid to offer an opinion when one is requested. She was extremely helpful in narrowing our extensive search that included a lengthy list of ‘must haves.’ When our search became frustrating, she got on the phone and called every realtor in Prescott inquiring about homes with our requirements that may come on the market in the near future. The effort proved fruitful and we purchased a home that had not yet been listed on the MLS. Julie once again went to bat for us during the negotiations phase ad was present for all the inspections. We have purchased several homes in several states and working with Julie has been our most positive experience. We can’t sing her praises too loudly or recommend her too highly. She is wonderful.” – Brad and Judy Hunt

“Julie is amazing! I was all over the place in my search, but she remained unfazed! I had a million questions and she was able to answer every one of them!” – Chuck and Barbara

“Our agent Julie Marquardt was absolutely perfect in all respects. We depended on her throughout the whole process. She came through at all times! We are so happy with her on all levels. We have found a new friend.” – Richard and Leslie Mount

“Thank you Julie for helping me close on my first property!” – Adrianna Holden

“Julie Marquardt is fabulous! She is super knowledgeable about Prescott, Prescott Valley, and the surrounding areas. She understands “country” properties super well, including water wells, septic, fire protection, HOA restrictions, and easements. Country properties with land are generally much more complicated than ‘town properties.’ Hence having someone like Julie to help you find that perfect horse property with a view is critical.” – Sam and Patricia Prather

She helps her husband run their painting business, has raised and continues to raise their two wonderful children, she volunteers weekly with their Church Prescott Christian Church and with the youth program called Young Life, and on top of all that, is an incredible and beloved real estate agent.

To our team here at the Kathleen Yamauchi Group Real Estate, Chris brings her organizational skills and her passion for helping people, making her a strong and irreplaceable addition to our team. An exuberant personality, Chris brings joy and fun into every transaction she handles, making the process less stressful and more enjoyable for her clients. She also has a knowledge of Prescott unlike any other – along with almost ten years of real estate experience – and will help make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible in your next real estate venture.

Here are some things Chris’ clients have had to say about her:

“We enjoyed working with Chris – Great Realtor!” – Steve and Clair G.

And the praise could go on and on! We love Chris Wilson and are blessed to call her one of our own here at KYG.

A Letter From Our Broker Molly Hohrein

Below is a letter from our broker Molly Hohrein to all our past, present, and future clients. And also to all the Mortgage, Escrow, and the various other types of companies we have the honor of working with every single day.

Looking back and moving forward…

As we begin this New Year, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and the relationships we have built with you over the years. We really wouldn’t be where we are today without you. We are always grateful for the opportunity to work with you and for you, and to help any loved ones you can refer who may be needing to sell or buy a home. Our passion is to help all our clients as we have hopefully helped you and help them have the best real estate experience possible!

This past year has been filled with a multitude of both challenges and victories. Every year is different, but this one has been filled with more change than normal. The passing of Kathleen in March 2018 was a huge hit to all of us. We still miss her and remember her daily, but we have persevered, and we owe it all to our clients and those who came along side us in our time of mourning. As we move forward, our desire is to continue to do business as Kathleen would – with quality, class and style.

Kathleen would often remind us of what we have printed on our business cards, “It has never been our intention to be the biggest… only the best!” This is a motto we have lived by as her team and a motto we still live by today.

We know there will be many challenges ahead, but we are excited to see what 2019 has in store for us. We go into the New Year with enthusiasm and anticipation, seeking to build new opportunities and even more relationships, and persistently strive to be better every day. We can’t thank you enough for continuing to believe in us and spreading the word that we are still here living in the legacy of Kathleen. We look forward to working with you again soon! Happy New Year!

Designated Broker Kathleen Yamauchi Group Real Estate

Prescott Woman Magazine Kathleen Yamauchi Group Article

If you didn’t get a chance to pick up a copy of this month’s issue of Prescott Woman Magazine, or visit their website at prescottwomanmagazine.com to see it, here is the article we published titled, “The Kathleen Yamauchi Group: Rising Up to Carry on a Business Legacy Built on Family, Faith, and Fortitude,” written by Prescott Woman Magazine’s Tara Fort:

The Kathleen Yamauchi Group has been a pillar in the Prescott community for over 25 years. From the start, natural leader Kathleen Yamauchi excelled in management, marketing and creative vision. She started her agency with a team of highly-skilled professionals and over the years her efforts paid off. In 2016, she made Real Estate Executive Magazine’s list of 100 Most Influential Real Estate Agents. Kathleen’s passion for people allowed her to focus on being the very best at developing relationships. In Spring 2018 with retirement on the horizon, Kathleen and her husband, Shoyei, began grooming their son Dan to take over the family business. But, life takes some strange and unexpected turns, leaving those who remain tasked with sifting through the foundation of what was built, and ultimately carrying on discovering what lies ahead.

Sadly, Kathleen passed away in March after a nine-year battle with cancer. Those who knew her continue to feel her spirit of dedication and uncompromising excellence. Dan Yamauchi says, “My mom earnestly loved those around her and made every effort to serve their needs above her own. We hear stories of how her kindness and joy touched this community and the ways her life positively impacted others. We’re learning to deal with the pain and sadness of her absence, but there’s comfort in knowing she’s remembered for demonstrating the values she cherished.”

Moving forward will be both exciting and bittersweet. While some companies fold or experience massive reorganization after the loss of a founder, the Kathleen Yamauchi Group is just the opposite. Designated Broker Molly Hohrein who has been with the agency since 2002 says, “As far as what is next for us, the answer is simple. We’re here to continue Kathleen’s legacy. As a team, we are driven to maintain what she started, and to continue to grow. Kathleen used to say, ‘It has never been our intention to be the biggest—only the best.’ We will continue to serve the business community and support the volunteer organizations that she selflessly represented.” The team knows there will be challenges along the way and finds inspiration in serving organizations Kathleen supported such as foster care and adoption, the community pregnancy center, youth and military families, and most recently Global Fingerprints—an organization Kathleen chose while in the hospital earlier this year.

As impactful as Kathleen was in the community, it’s not difficult to witness the inspiration she gained from those around her. The broad and diverse group will continue to move forward. Dan states, “Our doors are still open at and we’re keeping her name on the sign. She built a solid team of professionals who will continue offering the best real estate services in town. She was irreplaceable, but we’re very excited to follow her vision and grow this business.”
