Rest of the Story:

With spring on its way out, and summer right around the corner, it is the perfect time of year for hiking in Prescott. Take advantage of the days getting longer and the beautiful weather with a short hike after work. Below are some of the best short trails around town:

Peavine National Recreation Trail is an easily accessed trail that leads you around Watson Lake. The trail is flat, well-traveled and dog friendly. This is particularly great for people who want a quick hike that you can access from many points. Lynx Lake Loop is one of Prescott’s lakeside trails, with beautiful vegetation and wildlife. Part of this trail is paved, while the other is a well-traveled dirt path. Lynx Lake Loop is a great trail for kids, is especially exciting for bird lovers, and you can grab a bite to eat at the Lynx Lake Cafe afterwards! Thumb Butte Trail #33 is a short, but rigorous hike that leads to unbelievable views of Prescott. The trail is paved most of the way, and is steep for a quick workout. There are plenty of benches to stop and admire the views (and to catch your breath). For more information, visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/prescott/recarea/?recid=67469
