Rest of the Story:
Looking to explore Northern Arizona this weekend? Head to Montezuma’s Castle and Montezuma’s Well this weekend for a bit of Native American history.
To start, pack a bag with some snacks, water, sunscreen, a protective hat, and your camera. There won’t be a lot of hiking, and there is plenty of shade, but it is always best to be prepared when exploring outside.
Start your day early and start your trip through Page Springs, making a stop at the Page Springs Hatchery (https://www.visitarizona.com/uniquely-az/parks-and-monuments/page-springs-national-fish-hatchery) for a quick and beautiful walk. This is especially fun with kids!
Head to Montezuma’s Castle and be sure to bring some cash for entry. Walk through the park yourself on a self guided tour, or tag along with one of many tours given. For more information head to https://www.nps.gov/moca/planyourvisit/basicinfo.htm
For lunch, stop for a fry bread snack on your way from the castle, or head to one of any restaurants close by:
For a cowboy cookout experience, head to Babe’s Round Up https://www.babesroundup.com
For comfort food, head to Nikki’s Grill http://www.nikkisgrill.com
After lunch, head to Montezuma’s Well for the second leg of your journey. https://www.nps.gov/moca/planyourvisit/exploring-montezuma-well.htm Explore the trails in the nice shady grounds, keeping your eyes peeled for Sinagua Ruins.
On your way home, grab dinner in Cottonwood’s historic downtown.
For wood-fired pizza, head to Bocce, a top rated restaurant. http://boccecottonwood.com/?utm_source=tripadvisor&utm_medium=referral
For delicious BBQ with a great outdoor space, head to Colt 804 www.colt804.com
Enjoy your trip!
